Securities trading


NASDAQ OMX Baltic exchanges provide electronic trading in Baltic-listed securities: equities, bonds and investment fund units.  

Trading on the Baltic exchanges is done:

  • On world’s leading trading system INET for trading in equities
  • On electronic high – capacity trading platform Genium INET for fixed – income and derivative instruments.

Membership

To be admitted to trading on the Baltic market, a bank or a brokerage company has to be in a stock exchange member status. A bank or a brokerage company can obtain membership in either one of the Baltic exchanges or, alternatively, become a Baltic member and thus gain admittance to trading in any of the Baltic exchanges.  
Note: private individuals wishing to trade in securities on the Baltic market need to seek for intermediation of an exchange member.

Broker training courses

To do trading on NASDAQ OMX Baltic exchanges, at least two employees of a exchange member must be authorized as exchange traders  for the electronic trading systems INET and Genium INET. To become an authorized trader passing an exam is required. 


Liquidity provider program

In order to enhance the liquidity and thus attractiveness of the Baltic market, the Baltic exchanges have introduced a market making (liquidity provider) program. Market makers (liquidity providers) provide extra assurance to investors, as their task is to maintain the supply and demand of specified shares in the continuous trading segment within a certain price spread.
